Company Global Welcome
Global Welcome is a social enterprise dedicated to promoting the professional prospects of young people from West Africa. It supports the expansion of their skills in Senegal and the completion of vocational training in Germany. At the same time, Global Welcome supports companies in Germany in finding international personnel and establishing long-term employment relationships.
Initial situation
Almost 75% of the Senegalese population is younger than 35 years. Only a small proportion of school graduates manage to secure an apprenticeship or adequately paid employment. At the same time, around one third of apprenticeship positions in Germany currently remain unfilled. Many companies could imagine training international personnel. However, they lack access to potential trainees abroad and often also the time and knowledge about the necessary bureaucratic steps.
Approach
Global Welcome connects young people seeking employment from Senegal with interested companies in Germany. This involves continuous support of the young people through personal assistance both in Senegal and in Germany. Global Welcome also carefully supports employers through consulting and service offers. The goal is to align the needs and requirements of both sides, find the best possible training matches, and ensure the long-term sustainability of the training relationship.
Activities
The activities of Global Welcome include, among others:
- Personnel placement in cooperation with reputable partner organizations in Senegal
- Identification of preparation needs for potential trainees and, if necessary, organization of required language and professional preparation
- Providing information about living realities and working conditions in Germany
- Support with completing formalities, from applying for the required visa to issuing the residence permit in Germany
- Preparation and personal support of the onboarding process within the company
- Providing a contact person for trainees and companies in Germany
- Designing exchange among the trainees
Standards
Global Welcome places great emphasis on diligence, maximum transparency, fairness, and adherence to international standards. This also includes employers covering any incurred costs. A portion of the profits is invested in further education projects in Senegal.
